I can recommend Jamaican cuisine with a clear conscience. Immediately after the miracles of nature
On this fabulous island, the dishes you eat everyday and other treats are noteworthy. Personally, I know a dozen people who, because of the unusual taste of food, often return to this island. Everything is wonderfully fresh, ripening in the sun the fruits taste amazing. The country is famous for its numerous restaurants, roadside restaurants, family bars and restaurants
ital - vegetarian and other.

Jamaican cuisine derives from Caribbean tradition. It is a kitchen full of spices, using local raw materials. The main course often includes rice mixed with black beans, peas, chicken, local dumplings "Patty", dishes with sauces and lots of cooked vegetables and fruits. The traditional delicacies include Jamaican chicken with coconut oil, carrots, onions, sweet potatoes, tomatoes and pepper. Popular drinks are Jamaican rum, juices and fruit smoothies, local Red Stripe and Tia Maria, coffee with chocolate liqueur.

A characteristic feature of Jamaican cuisine is the preparation of smoked pork and chicken dishes using a special "jerk" spice. The term "jerk" now means both the way of cooking food and the marinade used for that purpose. It's about the traditional way of cooking food, rooted at a time when local people were looking for a way to preserve meat so that in the hot climate they would not spoil. This delicious chicken can be eaten. on a rotten barrel grill (see blog) on the main street in Black River, served by a smiling locals in foil aluminum foil. Together with my son we sat down in the shade on the street and we all  tasty healthy.
For your favorite alcoholic beverages, include Jamaican rum, for every other type, with added water or cola and excellent Jamaican Blue Mountains coffee, which belongs to the best varieties in the world. Almost every restaurant is served chilled local beer.

A few typical dishes and ingredients

The Jamaican national fruit is Ackee. This tropical fruit can be harvested once it becomes reddish-orange, which is sufficiently mature. Unripe fruits are poisonous. The texture reminds of avocado, the taste of walnuts, and on the plate looks like scrambled eggs. Ackee pulp is served as a delicacy for a warm breakfast. Breadfruit is a special fruit, brought to the island of Tahiti - shiny green fruit after cooking are added to pasta, rice or vegetables, they can also be grilled, baked or fried. You can not forget the Star Fruit, whose yellow fruits have a distinctive shape resembling a star. They are very sweet and usually come in desserts or sweet drinks, and because of their shape, they are also a decoration of dishes. On the blog I will try to introduce other delicious, there are so many that here can not tell everyone.

Jamaican cuisine uses specific spices. Try Annatto, a Jamaican spice with a musky-yellow color that is obtained from the seeds of flowering trees. Then Rum Bay - the name comes from a tree, having small dark berries called Maleguetta Pepper. These are spices that are added almost to all local dishes, mainly for soups and sauces. In the shops you can buy ready-made spices made from local herbs. Some of them I always take with me to Poland, for my own use and for small gifts.

In most restaurants we will find on the plates dark green boiled Callaloo leaves, a characteristic Jamaican vegetable reminiscent of spinach. As a meat additive. It is also called Chinese spinach. In Jamaica, potatoes will remind us of a bulb called Dasheen, which is served as a side dish or an added diced soup.

Among the Jamaican is a very popular goat meat made with curry.
Try a fish called Jack - it is a special sea fish, with green shells.
Its weight reaches up to 60 kg and is served in many ways. I personally recommend the Red Snapper, the color of the scales as in the name of reddish, with a jerk version, served with pickles onions and peppers. Fingers licking. And ... .. A lot of water to drink, it is spicy seasoning, but it is worth tasting.

In Jamaica you should try fresh lime, mango, avocado (giant compared to those we see in the markets), papaya or lobster or red shrimp from the roadside stall.
Jamaican cuisine is one word very rich, colorful, varied and incredibly tasty. I know that each of you will find something for you. I recommend eating these delicious foods with my fingers, but this is my subjective suggestion. Try it yourself! I encourage you to explore and explore the real, healthy, and unforgettable Jamaican cuisine.
